The studio
Founded by Lydia Allen in 2020, Lydia Allen Interiors is a Surrey-based interior design studio working on residential projects across the UK.
With over 11 years in the industry, including five years at one of London’s leading interior design studios before setting up her own, Lydia has developed a very clear approach to design: homes should feel considered, but never overly designed.
The studio is known for warm, layered interiors that feel understated but still have personality. We love natural materials, mixing old and new, and the occasional unexpected detail. We’re not interested in creating the same house over and over again. Every project starts with the people who are actually going to live there, how they use their home and what they genuinely love.
We work with a brilliant network of makers, suppliers and craftspeople, creating bespoke pieces and sourcing furniture, art and accessories from all over. The aim is always to create a home that feels individual and collected over time, rather than designed and installed in one go.
From initial concepts and layouts through to sourcing, procurement, styling and final installation, we offer a full interior design service, as well as working with clients on individual areas of a project where needed.
"Interior spaces affect how you feel and emotionally respond to a room. How you live in the rooms, what inspires you, places you’ve travelled and experiences you've enjoyed. All these elements are key in creating a personalised backdrop to your home."

The team
Lydia
Creative Director/Founder
Lydia leads the creative direction of the studio and is involved in every project, from the first scribbles and layouts through to the final pieces going into a room.
Her inspiration comes from far beyond interiors. Travel, hotels, restaurants, old buildings, flea markets and antique shops all regularly make their way into the studio's reference library (and usually her suitcase). She believes the more you see, the more your eye develops, and is constantly filing away colours, materials and details to come back to later.
Her approach to interiors is much the same. Not everything needs to match, not everything needs to be new and not every empty corner needs filling. She loves homes that feel layered and collected, with pieces that have a story and enough personality to feel unmistakably like the people who live there.
Morwenna
Interior Designer
Morwenna joined Lydia Allen Interiors in 2021 after achieving a first-class degree in Interior Design from Plymouth University of Art. She works alongside Lydia, guiding projects from initial concepts to completion. Rooted in Cornwall, Morwenna finds constant inspiration in her diverse surroundings, be it the rugged coastline or the charming coastal villages. Cornwall isn't just a backdrop for Morwenna; it serves as both a muse for her designs and her favourite place to relax.
